G.H. Raisoni College of Engineering (GHRCE) Nagpur has organized two day’s Data Science Summit on November 12-13, 2019. The main objective of this summit was to bring together industry, academia and research organizations to share and exchange knowledge and opportunities available in the area of Data Science and to provide platform to the faculties, students from the academia and research laboratories and stakeholders from the industry to present and deliberate the recent trends in the field of Data Science.

The Data Science Summit was inaugurated on November 12, 2019 at 9.45 am at Swami Vivekanand Conference Hall , G.H. Raisoni College of Engineering Nagpur at the hands of Dr. Sheela Siddappa Chief Advisor, Data Science, BOSCH and Mr. Arvind Kumar, Centre Head, TCS Nagpur. Executive Director Mr. Shreyas Raisoni; Director of Institute Dr. Preeti Bajaj; Chief Data Scientist of Jio Mr. Shailesh Kumar, CEO and Founder of FisheyeBox Innovation lab Mr. Pinaki Laskar; Data Scientist, Tiger Analytics Dr. Sri Vallabha Deevi; Principal Scientist NBSS & LUP Dr. G.P. Obi Reddy were present during the inaugural function.

function.Day one of the summit witnessed the Keynote address by Dr. Sheela Siddappa on Topic: Impact of Data Science in Industry, wherein Dr. Sheela presented many case studies undertaken by Bosch. Mr. Arvind Kumar presented a power talk on the Topic: Applying deep learning for social good. Chief Data Scientist of Jio Mr. Shailesh Kumar delivered his power packed keynote on From Data to Intelligence: The Evolution in AI Thinking. Other sessions were delivered by Industry experts namely Dr. Sri Vallabha Deevi, Senior Data Scientist, Tiger Analytics, Chennai, Pinaki Laskar, CEO and Founder of FishEyeBox Innovation lab, & Dr. G.P. Obi Reddy, Principal Scientist, NBSS & LUP. These sessions were followed by panel discussion on: Is data science invading our Privacy? The eminent member of the panel included Dr. Mukta Paliwal, Data Scientist, Persistent systems; Dr. Parag Desphande, Professor VNIT and Mr. Gopal Sharma, CO Founder GoodYaara. The experts deliberated on the topic and put forward various concerns regarding privacy of data. The day ended with a hands-on workshop for the participants by Dr. Deevi.

Day two of the conference witnessed plenary sessions by Harshita Jhavar, Data And Applied Scientist, Microsoft, Czech Republic, Anup Bhatkar, CEO Medialytics, Girish Agnihotri, TCS, Saurabh Jain, Persistent Systems Pvt. Ltd., Pratyush Kumar, Manager-Marketing, Infocepts, Followed by panel discussion on: challenges in data science field projects? and a workshop on Big Data and Hadoop. Incharge of Centre of Excellence in Data Science. Dr. Prashant Borkar and Head of AI Department Prof. A. Thomas are the coordinators of this Summit. The summit organizers have thanked all Speakers, Management, Director Dr. Preeti Bajaj, all committee members for their untiring efforts and support to make this summit a success.
